Status S530, if it's going above the wardrobe get the S530/10, it's directional, log periodic and with a built in amp, also easy to direct it from inside the Motor Home whilst looking at the TV.
I bought one when they first came out and as far as I can remember only on two occasions have I not been able to get a signal.
It's a no brainer.

Hi Case,
I will set the ball rolling, The only aerial permanently fixed to the roof for Freeview Status 530 ?. This is a good aerial in good reception areas, but like a dish you still have to point it in the right direction (Transmitter) and basically fine tune it to receive the best picture possible. Personally I now prefer Freesat, but you do need a dish mounted on the roof or a tripod. (Same programmes as Freeview)
Going the Tripod route, Sky Mini dish C/W 4 way LNB and brackets £24-99 from Amazon. (Web)
Alloy adjustable Tripod,(speaker stand) £19-99 from Maplin.
Bush Freesat digital receiver (TV and Radio) £24-95 From Argos (on offer now)
Going a roof mounted dish route the choice is limitless from simple hand crank up to fully automatic systems costing a bomb.
There are now stand alone systems by Camos or Maxiview for example(£699-00) that you just place on the ground outside your van, it is connected to a remote controller via a 20 meter lead and provided you have a clear line of sight to the satellite it does it all for you, just press a couple of buttons whilst sitting in the comfort of your van. You will still need a a Sat receiver. PS, It saves drilling the roof of your van.
cheers hagar.

Ive just been looking at the status ones on fleebay but now youve mentioned freesat id quite like to try that route if there,s a cheapish small dish that can be fixed to the roof. Them ive seen that come in a plastic moulded case for around 60 quid, would one of those be good enough to pick up freesat. Thanks for your earlier fast replies.

These also have the advantage of more flexibility regarding the positioning of the dish, than a roof mounted system. This can often overcome the issue of trees etc blocking the satellite signal, by repositioning the dish to look from underneath the tree branches.

Apparently the only problem with any Status aerial fitted to a motor home or caravan is poor installation, it only one stray wire from the outer braided to cause problems.
Also don't let anybody tell you must buy a digital aerial, apparently there is no such an item, an aerial is aerial.
